Digital Panchayat: Following this, the Common Service Centers of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj signed an MoU for the complete digitization of over 2.5 lakh gram panchayats of India. Common Service Center e-Governance Services is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under MeitY primarily focused on the development and delivery of e-Governance services in rural areas of India. Under the MoU, the SPV will work with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to transform all Gram Panchayats into ‘Digital Panchayats’, support Gram Panchayats in implementing data digitization and ensure speedy delivery of all Panchayat level services. And “This MoU will also act as a catalyst in promoting rural BPOs in each gram panchayat, of which there is more than 2.5 lakh,” MeitY said.
And The MoU will also ensure that CSCs maintain records of all Gram Panchayats in digital format, besides supporting Gram Panchayats in conducting various surveys. The CSC will also act as a digital literacy centre for all the elected representatives of the Gram Panchayats. Dr Dinesh Tyagi, the CEO, of CSC SPV, said, “We will automate and digitize the day-to-day work in gram panchayats, engage the e-Panchayat application and other central and state government applications to make it a true digital panchayat. According to him, the collaboration will serve as a contact point for CSCs with other central and state ministries and departments for integration, implementation and delivery of services.
