SC OBC Free Coaching Scheme 2024

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, “Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students” is an educational program. The Scheme aims to give economically disadvantaged candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) high-quality coaching so they can sit for competitive exams to gain entry into reputable technical and professional higher education institutions and/or obtain suitable jobs in the public or private sector.

Through Central Universities that have received institutional recognition under the Scheme, the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) will collaborate with the Ministry to carry out its implementation. The plan underwent revisions in 2022–2023. The updated guidelines do not provide for institute empanelment. The Department selects the students directly, and they are free to pursue coaching at any institution of their choosing. As a result, no institute is currently implemented under the plan.

Candidate Ratio by Category

  • Each year, 3500 students will be chosen for this program.
  • The proportion of SC students must not go below 70%. The MoSJE may leniently enforce this ratio if there are insufficient candidates in the SC category. Less than 50% of SC students may not, however, be admitted.
  • Additionally, thirty percent of the spots under each category will go to female applicants. The Ministry will take into consideration male candidates who fall into the same category if there aren’t enough female candidates available in any category.
